The Piece of String Plot Analysis

The Masque of the Red Death

Character-individuals that play a part in story, movie,book, etc.
 
main character (protagonist)-The individual that plays the biggest or most important part of the story.
 
minor character-individuals that take a smaller part in the story.
 
dynamic character-when the main character changes from scene to scene.
 
static character-when the main character stays the same.
 
Setting-the place where the events happen
 
Plot-a chain of events that are related in the story.
 
Exposition-gives the most important backround images in the story.
 
Inciting Incident-to provoke.
 
Rising Action-difficulties that happen during a story that usually leads to something worse.
 
Climax-the part of the story when the character makes a decision that affects the final outcome of the story.
 
Falling Action-the difficulty is usuall solved so the tension and difficulties die down.
 
denouement-the problems that were in the plot are solved
 
theme-an important phrase or message that the author wanted to bring to the reader.  Usually a life important lesson.
 
characterization-The act or an instance of characterizing.
 
symbols-Something that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention, especially a material object used to represent something invisible.
 
irony-The use of words to express something different from and often opposite to their literal meaning.
